One National Financial Aid Day isn’t really enough time to celebrate the amount of work and effort put in all year round by financial aid professionals. At ScholarNet, we know how dedicated you are – and we’re thankful every day to work with such caring, hard-working individuals.
To celebrate this day, we asked our ScholarNet regional vice presidents to reflect on who financial aid professionals are as people – and what they mean to the financial aid process.
Here’s what they had to say:
Financial aid officers help students’ dreams of going to college become reality. Families don’t understand the financial aid process and find it very confusing. Financial aid officers are always willing to help their students and walk them through the entire process. I always find it amazing how they can stay on top of all the regulations they deal with, whether it be at the state or federal level.Financial aid officers are always the first ones to volunteer at any event or financial aid night in their community. They are always willing to answer questions when a colleague from another school has a question or needs help with something.

Without financial aid professionals, the process of navigating financial aid would be very difficult. It is these people that make it possible. Many financial aid professionals work late hours and put in extra time to ensure students get the funds they need to attend classes. They go the extra mile to ensure students and their families understand the process.

Financial aid administrators continuously have to take on extra responsibilities and tasks as new legislation is enacted or announcements are made in the media (can anyone say loan forgiveness?). They go above and beyond for their students, many times being short staffed, not paid enough for the important work they do, or sometimes being undervalued by their campus administrations. They do everything in their control to help their students fund their education and persist to degree completion. It’s often a thankless job, but they are in it for the good.

At ScholarNet, we consider ourselves fortunate to partner with financial aid professionals and to be a small part of making their day better and easier through the support we offer with private loan processing. Thank you from all of us at ScholarNet for the valuable work you do – today on National Financial Aid Day and every day.
